A: Thanks for reaching out Steve! If you were to follow the advice you have been given, then you would exclisively fire 45 ACP 230 grain FMJ ammo loaded with round nose profile bullets. I'm afraid that totally precludes JHP ammo, which has a flat nose profile by design. You could certainly try JHP ammo without damaging your pistol, although I cannot guarantee your firearm would feed it as reliably as FMJ.

A: Hello, Joe! This round's muzzle velocity is 880 fps. That means at the moment the bullet exits the barrel, it's travelling 880 feet per second (or 600 mph). At 25 yards its velocity falls to 860 fps. Winchester would have measured these velocities with a 5" barrel, as that's what a 1911 has.
