Uncle Sam just sold us a hero’s ransom worth of surplus steel ammo cans. Once we got the assortment back to home base, we divided it up into three categories: good, fair, and poor.
This can right here is one we deemed to be in poor condition. That means there’s significant rusting, including inside of the can. There’s quite a bit of spray paint on it, it’s dented and bent from its time in service, it might have tape and/or stickers on it, and it’s even pretty dirty, too. While this can may no longer be pretty, however, it is still functional. Its lid fits securely, its rubber gasket prevents water infiltration, and its handle remains sturdy.
This is a 50 Cal M2A1 ammo can, so it will hold any type of ammunition you can imagine. It would also make for a good water resistant geocaching container, and if you’re staging a set for a haunted house or movie this heavily-used ammo can is going to add a look of authenticity to the environment.
