This cartridge is outfitted with a 40 grain full metal jacket projectile. That makes it 10 grains lighter than the German Army’s DM11 Penetrator bullet, and its muzzle velocity is 462 fps slower because of it. But the non-expanding FMJ’s 1,900 fps muzzle velocity does indeed produce adequate chamber pressure to fully cycle a semi-automatic rifle, and its ballistic performance isn’t radically different from that of lighter military and law enforcement loads.
