A: Thanks for reaching out Gordon! These are indeed the JHP rounds that would ruin a varmint's day. And we do offer a discount to all active and formerly enlisted Armed Forces members. Please go to this link: luckygunner.com/heidi-salutes-our-military

A: Thanks for reaching out Ian! I'm obviously not familiar with your physical abilities, so please forgive me if my advice is unwarranted. If you are only unable to stand, then I believe you could handle a 9mm or 40 S&W handgun without issue, just as you could handle a 5.56/223 AR-15 or 12/20ga shotgun. If a quick escape from a dangerous altercation is not practical, then you would be well-advised to determine whether you're capable of handling more powerful firearms like these.
With that, the 22 WMR is still a realistic solution for personal protection. I regret that we haven't currently got any specialized self-defense 22 WMR ammo in stock. As far as our available options go, I'm most confident recommending CCI Max-Mag:

CCI is one of America's finest rimfire ammo makers. This round's fast muzzle velocity, 40 grain bullet and ability to expand during penetration of soft tissue all make its terminal ballistics suitable for personal protection. The reliability of this ammo is going to count for a lot when your life's on the line as well.
That said, the best solution for personal protection with a 22 WMR handgun, in my opinion, is made by Hornady. We haven't got it in stock, but your safety is more important than me making a sale. I most recommend that you locate a box of Hornady Critical Defense 45 grain FTX ammo. You can learn more about it here:
