How is the M2A2 ammo can different from the M2A1, aside from having the newer design? The M2A2 has a special steel bracket. This bracket supports the can’s lid when heavy weight is stacked on top of it, which in turn prevents the rubber gasket from getting squashed and becoming ineffective at sealing out moisture.

In other words, if you’re looking for stackable, military spec .50 cal ammo cans, then you’ve come to the right place. But even if you only want a single can to keep your ammo safe, this M2A2 can by Blackhawk offers excellent value. In addition to locking out humidity with its tight-sealing gasket, its seam-welded steel construction shields ammo against physical abuse. We have backed trucks over ammo cans like these, and nothing bad came out of it.

This can is specifically designed to hold 100 rounds of 50 BMG. But the 50 BMG is an enormous cartridge, so you can fit over 1,000 loose rounds of 5.56/223 or over 2,000 loose rounds of 9mm. And thanks to its skirted lid, your ammo will still be protected against sun and rain when you leave the M2A2 ajar.
