A: Hi JR. Thanks for reaching out! Our supplier of these cans recently changed to a Chinese source so our current stock is made in China. The Q&A reflecting a US mfg were generated prior to that change.
It is a common misconception that mil-spec must be made in the US. "Mil-spec" refers to a level of design, performance, and material standards approved by our military, regardless of the nation of origin. The "mil-spec" item must meet or exceed those standards. Product design, function, features, size, components, construction materials, and compatibility, etc, are all considered requirements for the product. This means that regardless of the nation of origin, all mil-spec products have to be fully compatible and meet a set of given standards. Give us a shout if we can assist with anything else. -- Ross

By: Rob
A: Thanks for reaching out Rob! I know you can fit 1,300 loose rounds of 45 ACP in an M2A1 ammo can. I'm afraid that doesn't answer your question, though, and because packaging size varies across different manufacturers I'm unable to give you a definitive answer. We may or may not package ammo inside of an ammo can when the two are ordered together., but the items will ship at the same time.

A: Hi Christopher,
Excellent question. We know for sure that 500 rounds will fit but depending on if they are loose packed and how they are stacked, you might could get upwards of 600 in a single can.

A: Hi Edward,
The 50 Cal M2A1 cans by Blackhawk do stack together. There is a depression on the bottom of the can that matches the handle on the top, and they interlock nicely.

A: Hello Bobby,
These cans aren't difficult to open once sealed. However, if you keep them sealed for a long time or keep them in a cold climate, one thing you can do that I do is take a small amount of oil and put it on the gasket. What I do is use motor oil and get a small amount on my finger and run it across the gasket. You only need a little bit, you don't want it running or dripping. That keeps the rubber gasket from bonding to the metal.

A: This Military M2A1 ammo can does contain a water & airtight latch to secure the contents, however a loop or device for a padlock would need to be added if a lock & key devices is going to be used. The side handle does include a hole large enough to fit an eyebolt which would require the drilling a hole on the side of the can. This may reduce the seal for moisture, however a rubber and steel washer can be installed around the bolt to minimize this.
