Here’s how it works. SAAMI standard spec 9mm ammo? It’s loaded to a max chamber pressure of 35,000 psi. SAAMI overpressure (+P) spec 9mm ammo, on the other hand, is 10% higher at 38,500 psi. But 9mm NATO? At 36,500 psi, its pressure is only 4.3% higher than standard.
Its higher chamber pressure gives this round’s 124 grain nonmagnetic FMJ bullet a higher muzzle velocity: 1,200 fps, as opposed to the more usual ~1,140 fps for a bullet of that weight (4” barrel in both cases). You may notice stronger recoil. You may notice a flatter trajectory, too.
This is Winchester’s USA VALOR series ammunition. It has the same cases, primers, powder, and overall quality as their conventional “white box” USA series ammo. The only difference is that Winchester donates a cut of USA VALOR profits to Folds of Honor, which provides scholarships to children of military families.
