A: Thanks for reaching out David! "TAC-XPD" is Barnes' brand name for their defense handgun line of ammunition. Barnes TAC-XPD 9mm and 9mm +P ammunition are both loaded with the 115 grain TAC-XP, which is a solid copper hollow point bullet designed for personal protection. The difference between a 9mm and 9mm +P cartridge comes down to chamber pressure. A standard pressure 9mm round has a lower chamber pressure (and a resultant lower muzzle velocity) than an overpressure (aka +P) round. The advantages of a +P round are its flatter trajectory and greater energy delivery on impact. The disadvantages are higher recoil and accelerated wear and tear on the pistol. It is crucial to determine whether your 9mm handgun is rated for +P before firing 9mm +P ammo.

A: Thanks for reaching out Chris! This ammo's manufacturer hasn't released the chamber pressure that it's loaded to create, but I'll reach out to Barnes and ask for that figure on your behalf. I'll update this comment if I hear back from them.

A: Our manufacturers would absolutely increase their outputs if they were able to, but I'm afraid they're already running at full capacity and utilizing every raw resource available to them. They'd like nothing more than to keep up with demand – as would we!
