When even European countries don’t have a problem with a certain type of ammunition, you know it’s got to be something special. This 9mm Flobert round is a curious little thing with its brass shell casing and rimfire primer, considering that it’s a shotshell and all.

If you would use a No. 3 Bore shotgun to secure your garden from serious threats to its lettuce and green beans, this is the ammo for you. It’s loaded with #8 shot, which is sized just right for dispatching vegetable pilfering varmints. It’s also so weak that you’ll lose very few green beans in the crossfire. You can’t say that about a 12 Gauge!

This shell is made by Umarex, a large German firm that makes a variety of sporting goods for European and American shooters. It is brought over to our country by Century Arms, a specialist when it comes to selecting and importing European-made ammunition.

Q: I have a belgian single shot poacher shot gun looks to be rimfire , i believe the ammo is 9mm The shell look like a small version of a 410 Have you or can you get this ammo.( unsure if brass is okay) and how would I get them to Canada

A: Hi Mark! I can't guarantee whether your shotgun is chambered for 9mm Flobert, but it certainly sounds like it is based on what you've written. The 9mm Flobert is a brass cased shotshell, so your shotgun would be designed for this ammo. Q: Can I use the 9 mm flobert shotshell in my 9 mm Taurus revolver? The normal ammo is center fire. The varmit shell is rinfire?? Thanks Scott

A: Hello Scott! Sorry, but this shotshell is completely incompatible with a 9mm Luger firearm like your Taurus. The 9mm Flobert is its own thing entirely. It was actually invented by the same man who also invented the rimfire primer, and it's such a weak shotshell that it's even legal in the least gun-friendly European countries.
