This round’s bullet is a solid copper hollow point – or an “open cavity,” as Liberty calls it. Its rugged construction enables the bullet to penetrate 12” to 16” into ballistic gel (thus satisfying the FBI test protocol). Its unique nose cavity doles out terminal expansion that Liberty designed for “maximum organ displacement.” The clean-shooting lead-free bullet also reduces the risk of over-penetration that could endanger bystanders.
Liberty’s lightweight bullets yield yet another advantage: easier everyday carry. A 17-round magazine loaded with this ammo weighs about 2.9 ounces less than the same mag loaded with 147 grain ammo.
This ammo’s cases certainly do look unique. They are made of brass, with black nickel plating for enhanced aesthetics, lubricity and corrosion protection.
