If you don’t mind a little more recoil than usual, then this 9mm +P ammunition by Winchester Defender is going to impress you – not to mention leave a big impact on your assailant. This round hits hard and keeps on hitting hard!

Winchester’s 147 grain JHP features a bonded jacket. Because its alloyed lead core and gilding metal jacket are actually welded to one another, this bullet is going to remain completely intact as it penetrates resilient mediums including wallboard, plywood, heavy fabric and dense muscle tissue. That’s the key to deep terminal penetration. Its evenly notched jacket further enables the JHP to split into six symmetrical segments during penetration, which effectively produces 1.5X expansion!

This powerful cartridge is loaded with low-flash propellant, which generates less of the muzzle flash that could throw your eyes out of night vision mode. Its nickel-plated cases also make this ammo easier to see in a dark chamber, as well as smoother feeding and more resistant to gradual corrosion. Q: Has this been discontinued? Winchester’s website now only shows the 124 +P and the standard pressure 147

A: Hi Brandon! Winchester just confirmed to me that this ammo is still in production.

Q: I've researched this loading and found it is the exact same loading as Winchester Ranger 147gr+P Service Bonded Q4463 and uses the same bonded bullet as 147gr Ranger Bonded RA9B. An all around excellent round. If you can't find the 50rd Ranger boxes buy this.

Q: Will this load expand reliably with the 3 inch barrels of today's sub compacts?

Q: What is the muzzle velocity of the Winchester +p 147?

A: Depending on the specific firearm, you can expect velocities in the 1000-1030fps range.

Q: Is there anyone that has any velocity data? It seems hard to find any information on this loading. It looks like it's a 147gr ranger bonded projectile(original velocity around 990fps) so I'm wondering why winchester is spotty with this loadings velocity. If I had to guess its no greater than 1050fps but I've never fired this particular winchester offering.
