A: No sir, this isn't +P ammo.

A: Hello Steve! No need to worry – that nickel alloy plating is significantly softer than the steel a barrel is made of. Even steel bullet jackets are too soft to damage a steel barrel.

A: Hello Clarissa! Interestingly enough, "HST" doesn't mean actually anything. It is simply Federal's own brand name for that particular design of jacketed hollow point (JHP) bullet. The HST bullet is high quality, although Winchester's own Silvertip bullet has remained virtually unchanged for decades for reason other than that it works very well. I personally believe the HST to be the better of the two, but that's not to say the Silvertip isn't also very effective. I'd hardly consider the Silvertip a compromise.
Both cartridges should function flawlessly in an M&P Shield. If you'd like something truly exceptional, then I'd recommend Speer Gold Dot: luckygunner.com/9mm-124-grain-p-jhp-speer-le-gold-dot-duty-50-rounds. That's cop ammo, with a bonded bullet jacket and precision engineered hollow point nose cavity. It's also overpressure (which your handgun can handle), so it delivers a slightly flatter tragectory and greater energy on impact.

A: Hi James! This ammo should function great in a 9mm carbine. I'm certain you'll get a faster muzzle velocity than 1,010 fps, but I'm afraid I can't calculate just how much faster a 16" barrel will make this ammo fly.

A: Hi Tony! This ammo should function correctly in any firearm chambered for 9mm, your G19 included.
As for the best range ammo, you should be fine so long as you're using FMJ bullets. Our selection is a bit limited at the moment thanks to the ammo drought, but we currently have a couple options in store.
The Scorpio ammo (luckygunner.com/9mm-124-grain-fmj-scorpio-50-rounds) is inexpensive range brass from the Czech Republic. The only other option we have is Stelth (luckygunner.com/9mm-165-grain-tmj-stelth-subsonic-50-rounds). The Stelth is higher quality, yet its 800 fps muzzle velocity is optimized for suppressor use. It will accordingly not closely mimic the performance of most self-defense rounds. If I had to choose one for you, I'd go with the Scorpio.
Please let me know if I may be of any more help!

A: Absolutely Nikki, this is a good choice of ammo for self-defense with that handgun.

A: Yes indeed, this ammo would make a good choice for self-defense with your Hellcat OSP!
