This 9mm cartridge has a 147 grain jacketed hollow point bullet. There are symmetrical cuts running deep down into the V-Crown’s nose cavity, splitting it off into six sections. When the nose cavity meets with resistance, the V-Crown blossoms into a symmetrical six-pointed star. Perhaps “blossom” is too pretty a word to describe what a bullet that expands so rapidly and uniformly does – it punches a cavernous wound channel into a body.
The V-Crown’s toothed cannelure does more than prevent bullet setback. The ring actually extends the bullet’s jacket into the core, helping the two stay locked together during penetration. It’s thanks to that cannelure that the V-Crown punches so consistently deep as well.
This round’s case is made of new brass with thin nickel plating. The plating lowers friction to aid smooth feeding extraction, and it also resists corrosion. This round’s propellant is low flash, so firing it in the nighttime shouldn’t rob you of your sight.
