A: Thanks for reaching out Michel! This is ammo isn't designed for self-defense. This round's 130 grain Total Syntech Jacket (TSJ) flat nose bullet and 1,140 fps muzzle velocity (16" test barrel) are both intended to generate the amount of chamber pressure that optimizes functionality in a pistol caliber carbine (PCC). Federal advertises it as ideal for training and competition. Personally, I think you're better off with a bullet that can undergo terminal expansion when it comes to self-defense, but it's your Cx4 and it's your hide at stake! But if it's penetration depth you're concerned about, then I gotta make sure you know about Underwood Xtreme Defender: https://www.luckygunner.com/9mm-90-grain-xtreme-defender-underwood-20-rounds

A: Thanks for reaching out Charles! I expect you'll be most satisfied with Federal HST 124gr JHP. It's law enforcement grade, outstandingly effective at neutralizing a threat and super reliable. The middleweight bullet will deliver a good balance of slightly lower recoil and slightly deeper penetration depth. I always recommend Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot for self-defense with any 9mm firearm, but we haven't got the 124gr Gold Dot in stock right now (and the Federal HST is on sale): https://www.luckygunner.com/9mm-124-grain-jhp-hst-federal-premium-le-50-round
