This 9mm ammo by Federal is a marvelous choice for target practice and serious training. A Syntech Range cartridge’s bullet is superior to a conventional FMJ because it is entirely coated in tough polymer instead of only partially covered by copper!

This round’s 124 grain bullet features Federal’s Total Synthetic Jacket. It will prevent any metal-on-metal contact within your handgun’s barrel, thus keeping it cleaner while simultaneously extending its lifespan. Because this technologically advanced bullet contains no brittle copper, it presents a significantly reduced chance of dangerous splash-back when it hits a hard surface. This ammo may very well prevent an injury.

But little bits of copper flying back at you isn’t the only hazard this ammo seeks to prevent – it also virtually eliminates airborne lead. The Total Metal Jacket prevents hot propellant gasses from evaporating the lead in the bullet’s core, a problem a conventional FMJ allows to happen. Federal’s own Catalyst primer is also free of lead, barium, and antimony, so it will keep the still air at an indoor shooting range a whole lot cleaner.

Federal has designed this ammo to reduce felt recoil, as well as given it brass cases that will prove of great value if you like to handload. These 250 rounds come all together in a little plastic tub – you may just find no need for its lid once you’ve opened it!

Q: Hi, are these Syntechs subsonic? This is pertaining to a previous question answered.

A: This is indeed subsonic ammo. Federal recorded an average muzzle velocity of 1,050 fps out of a 4" test barrel, which is 75 fps slower than the speed of sound.

Q: Could I safely use this ammo in a WWII-era Walther P38?

A: Yes sir, this 9mm ammo would make an excellent choice for a P38. It's loaded to conventional pressure, and its polymer jacketed bullet should generate less friction inside your antique's barrel to preserve it.

Q: Hello! Is the 124gr Federal Syntech subsonic like it's 150gr bigger brother?

A: Hello Kevin! This ammo certainly has the same style of Total Synthetic Jacket bullet as the 150 grain load. The only significant difference is that the heavier bullet has a slower muzzle velocity – 890 fps, as opposed to the 124 grain load's 1,050 fps. Apart from its slightly flatter trajectory I don't think you'll notice a great difference between this ammo and the 150 grain version!
