A: No sir! The weight of the bullet does affect ballistic performance, but a handgun chambered for 9mm should fire any bullet just fine regardless of its weight.

A: Absoluely, 9x19mm and 9mm are the same exact cartridge.

A: Absolutely, the FN 509 should function correctly with any 9mm FMJ ammo. I'm afraid we haven't got this ammo in stock at the moment, though.
To be sure, you want full metal jacket (FMJ) ammo for range training and target practice. For self-defense you want jacketed hollow point (JHP) ammo, because a JHP expands inside of soft tissue to inflict greater damage which neutralizes a threat more effectively.
I'd highly recommend this ammo for personal protection: luckygunner.com/9mm-124-grain-p-jhp-speer-le-gold-dot-duty-50-rounds. This is 9mm +P ammo which your 509 is designed to fire safely as well. It produces a little more recoil, but it delivers a flatter trajectory and transfers greater energy throughout impact and penetration. Just take care that overpressure ammo will wear out a semi-automatic handgun's moving parts faster. That's not a problem as far as self-defense is concerned, but you wouldn't want to use it for high volume range shooting.
Please let me know if you've got any other ammo questions!
