The 115 grain HTP projectile offers reliable accuracy for self-defense applications, though you could certainly engage this ammo for hunting coyote and such over longer distances. Where the HTP shines brightest, however, is in the terminal ballistics department. This jacketed hollow point bullet’s core and jacket remain firmly anchored together as it penetrates soft tissue at high velocity, so it holds onto the momentum it needs to produce a deep wound channel. The HTP bullet expands to double its original diameter before coming to a rest inside its target. That’s approximately 7/10” wide.
Remington loads their tried-and-true personal protection loads with high-quality reloadable brass cases, top-grade propellant, and their own Kleanbore primers which spark up both dependably and without streaking a pistol’s or carbine’s bore with corrosive residues.
