If you’re familiar with Tula of Russia, then you’re just as familiar with MAXXTech Essential Steel. That’s because MAXXTech Essential Steel is made by Tula! Each 9mm cartridge in this box of 1,000 even bears the Tulammo headstamp.

But if you’re not familiar with Tula, then let’s explain why this range and target ammo is so affordable. Tula’s specialty is producing ammo with as little half-precious copper as possible. That’s most evident from this 9mm ammo’s cases, which are made entirely out of steel. The big thing to know about steel cases is that they are impossible to load with conventional handloading equipment, and even with special equipment it’s not worth the trouble. This ammo’s Berdan primers work on a different principle than Boxer primers, but they ignite in an indistinguishable fashion and they are absolutely noncorrosive.

This ammo’s 115 grain full metal jacket projectiles are not entirely made out of steel. They have traditional lead cores, but their bi-metal jackets are steel with extremely thin copper-washed exteriors. A bi-metal jacket will not damage your barrel, but it will attract a magnet. That’s of zero concern if you’re just firing away in your backyard, but you really must make sure whether your range allows “magnetic” ammo on their premises before you order the whole case of MAXXTech Essential Steel!
