You don’t become a competent shooter just because you’ve watched a couple of action movies and bought a handgun. Doctors have to go to medical school, electricians have to complete apprenticeships, lawyers have to get cosmetic surgery to conceal their reptilian features, and shooters have to spend hours upon hours at the range.

Here’s the kind of ammo you need to build up those skills. This 9mm cartridge is made by Aguila, the primary ammo supplier to the Mexican armed forces. It is loaded with a 115 grain bullet – lightweight so it can exit the muzzle at supersonic velocity, and analogous in ballistic performance to self-defense projectiles of the same mass. An FMJ is designed to help a semi-automatic feed reliably and keep lead out of its barrel, not to expand and do heightened damage to a threat. Even so, you’ll have a better time defending yourself with this ammo than you would with your bare fists.

This ammo is loose packed in four boxes, 300 rounds apiece. It is brass cased and non-corrosive Boxer primed, which is the standard for good range ammo. This isn’t a specialized cartridge, so if your handgun says “9mm” or “9x19” anywhere on its frame or barrel it’s good to go!
