A: Yes sir! The 7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge is designated by SAAMI as either "8mm Mauser" or "8x57mm." They are all one and the same cartridge.

A: Thanks for reaching out Aria! We have not yet tested to determine whether this ammunition will attract a magnet. Lucky Gunner is no longer able to ship ammunition to California, not even to FFL dealers or Licensed Ammunition Vendors in the state.

A: Thanks for reaching out Anakin! This is a rimless cartridge. The rimmed variant is commonly called "8x57mm IRS," whereas this is the rimless 8x57mm IS version (the "R" stands for rimmed). You can see the difference between the two rounds in this photo – the rimmed variant's rim quite clearly extends beyond the diameter of its case: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e3/8_57_JRS.jpg/220px-8_57_JRS.jpg
This is corrosive ammo. That means its primers produce hygroscopic salts, which will attract moisture if they are allowed to remain within the rifle. You must take special steps cleaning your rifle immediately after target practice or else rust will form inside its action and barrel. I advise submerging all metal parts in hot soapy water and very gently scrubbing them clean, then thoroughly drying each afterward. You may alternatively use Windex or 1:9 Ballistol/water solution. Just know that you must clean your rifle ASAP to prevent rust.

A: Thank you for reaching out Craig, and my condolences. The Mauser Model 1893, to my knowledge, was primarily chambered for 7x57mm Mauser (aka 7mm Mauser), although it was also chambered for 7.65x53mm Mauser (which is commonly called 7.65mm Belgian in the U.S.). As such I don't believe this would be the correct ammo for your rifle. I regret that I'm unable to discern precisely which ammo your rifle is chambered for without having a look, and quite naturally wouldn't like you to order 900 rounds of ammo until you're certain what you have. I would advise taking your rifle to an expert for assessment (he would probably own a gun store, or have some other professional interest in firearms).
