This ammo is loaded in South Dakota with 175 grain ELD-X projectiles. The ELD-X is intended for long-range hunting (just like the 7mm Rem Mag itself), and is replete with the features it needs in order to deliver jaw-dropping accuracy. The ELD-X’s concentric AMP jacket keeps it stabilized while its secant ogive profile, boat tail and polymer tip all work at minimizing drag. That’s the Heat Shield polymer tip – immune to the temperatures generated by air friction, and therefore able to preserve the bullet’s streamlined frontal profile under all circumstances.
The ELD-X won’t disappoint if your quarry reveals itself up close. After high-velocity (i.e. 0-400 yards) impact, its thick shank and InterLock ring ensure no less than 50% weight retention. At farther distances, the ELD-X can conserve as much as 90% of its weight. Its tip and nose cavity produce deleterious expansion at all ranges.
Black Hills reserves their very best components for their Gold series cartridges. This one’s 2,850 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 24” test barrel.
