The ELD Match is not a hunting bullet. The 180 grain projectile’s Heat Shield polymer tip is designed to withstand intense aerodynamic friction without becoming remotely deformed, yet it cannot initiate terminal expansion. The ELD Match also features Hornady’s signature Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, a streamlined secant ogive profile that gently tapers off to a boat tail, and a voidless lead core.
The 0.796 G1/0.401 G7 ballistic coefficient projectile overcomes air resistance so effectively that it ought to remain supersonic until about 1,986 yards – a distance it sprints across in just 3.3 seconds (that’s all assuming that the bullet achieves a muzzle velocity of 2,975 fps, which Hornady recorded with a 24” 1:8” test barrel).
