Whether you call it the 7mm Mauser or 7x57mm Mauser, you know the old military cartridge makes a great choice for hunting a wide range of medium-sized game. Whichever kind of critter you’re trying to put in your crosshairs, you’ll be in good hands with Winchester’s Super-X line of ammunition.

This round showcases one of America’s favorite hunting bullets: the Power-Point. The 145 grain bullet doesn’t rely on fancy tricks, but its simple soft point design has proven itself highly effective for decades now. The Power-Point’s jacket is precisely contoured to maximize the width the bullet can expand to, and the jacket notches that radiate around the bullet’s nose direct reliably uniform expansion. The Power-Point’s core is made of resilient lead alloy, helping it avoid fragmenting apart as it delivers a deep wound channel.

The classic soft point bullet is equipped with Winchester’s own headstamped brass case and non-corrosive Boxer primer. The American Legend carefully measures this ammo’s propellant charges to keep muzzle velocities very close to 2,660 fps. At that rate this round’s ballistic coefficient reliably hovers around 0.360, which is enough to transfer at least 1,000 ft lbs of energy over ranges up to 400 yards.
