This cartridge is loaded with a pointed soft point boat tail bullet. That’s a 139 grain lead and copper projectile, with a tapered base and an aerodynamic tip that exposes its lead core.
Fiocchi places this round’s muzzle velocity at 2,800 fps (24” bbl), and its G1 BC at 0.453. With stats like those, we predict the bullet should rise by about 1.92” en route to 200 yard zero, and then drop to about -7.8” at 300 yards. The PSP should also conserve at least 1,000 ft lbs energy until it reaches ~550 yards. Real world results will vary, of course.
The PSP features a tapered jacket: thinner around the rim, which facilitates more even mushrooming as the soft tip does its thing. The rim of the jacket is also notched internally, which is meant to help it split apart evenly after lower-energy impact. Medium game – deer and hogs – right in the sweet spot.
Fiocchi is Italian, but that didn’t stop them from making ammo in the best country on Earth. These rounds are manufactured in Missouri with new reloadable brass and noncorrosive Boxer primers.
