This Russian surplus ammunition is in great condition and comes sealed in its original 440 rd spam cans that it was placed in after being manufactured. This surplus ammo features a copper-washed steel case, a sealant at the primer pocket as well as a sealant at the case's mouth to help prevent moisture intrusion. This ammunition is considered magnetic as the projectiles are manufactured in part with steel.

This ammunition is corrosive but as long as you clean your rifle after use, it's a great way to provide a large savings over current production ammo as you have fun at the range.

Note: Spam can openers are not included with this product.

As others have said, great for casual shooting; Accuracy is minute-of-pie-plate out to 100Y or so.

The limit on accuracy is the bullets, which have irregular mass distribution. Probably voids since the lighter ones are much worse than the heavy ones. If you pull the bullets then you have a primed case and powder for about $0.30. Resize necks, reload with any mid-quality bullet for $0.35, if you tune the load you can get ammo that'll shoot 1-2" at 100Y from a good Mosin. (Better than 7N1 or 'blue box' Russian military match ammo.) Since there are no authoritative data on this powder I WOULD NEVER EXCEED THE ORIGINAL LOAD. H-4895 data is very close for lesser loads and other bullets. Necks need a good crimp to control gas leakage down the case.

You've still got the corrosive primer, but it's no big deal -- just clean PROMPTLY with Windex first and go from there. In about 1000 rounds, some reloaded, some as original, I've had probably a half dozen case splits but they caused no real problem.

As with any reloading what you do is your own responsibility.

I just opened my 7th can of this ammo, have been buying it now for over a year and go to the range at least once a week. Record to date is 320 rounds in a single day out of 3 Mosins and 1 VEPR, not a single misfire. Yeah, it runs a little dirty, but with the corrosive primer everything gets cleaned as soon as I get home, so no worries.

As far as accuracy, can hit a pie plate 10 out of 10 at 50, 100, and 150 yards. It can hit a steel silhouette at 200, 300, and 450 yards if I do my job. At 1000 yards, I either need a better rifle or new glasses. Given it's performance at the other distances I can't blame the ammo, it does what it was intended to do.

I bought mine last year...and just finished up with it. I have 3 Mosins 91/30's from which to shoot it....all fired it just fine. Only thing i noticed is that many of the spent rounds had ruptures. Checked all 3 guns headspace and it was fine. You cant reload these anyway so i really shouldnt worry about the ruptured empty cases. Going to order another case soon.

this ammo surprised me, the original packing in sealed cans was interesting, heavy metal and air tight, and the ammo showed it, looked like factory fresh rounds, fired true and easy all rounds,l no firing, accuracy or ejection issues at all. i wil buy more of this , a deal

I purchased the 440 round tin of this ammo for the Mosin Nagant 91/30 that I had just purchased. I was leery of running surplus ammo from a possibly dubious origin, but I was pleasantly surprised!
I ran 20 rounds through the 91/30 at my local range and not a single issue at all. As long as the ammo is in stock, and at this great price, I will continue to purchase it.

I admit I was a little apprehensive when I placed an order for surplus Russian ammo. My son purchased the same ammo from you a few months before and said it was great so I thought I'd give it a shot. I decided to purchase from you after reading about the lawsuit. Shipping was fast, packaged perfectly, no opener but I used my son's. He found his under one of the box flaps after chiseling the can open with a screw driver. Have fired over 100 rounds in my 1928 Mosin Nagant without a single issue. Good to 150 yards so far. I love this old Mil-Surp ammo. I've fired hundreds of rounds without a single misfire. Empty propane bottles are great targets... if you hit the threaded valve, the steel on steel creates sparks and flips it 10-15 feet in the air.

You can't beat this surplus ammo and don't be discouraged by the corrosive nature of the primer because cleaning after shooting is not bad I use windex to clean initially then the standard routine. Actually my barrel has stayed pristine, no issues. I will confess I avoided MILSURP in the past. Cost around the same to shoot big than the .22 plinkage which is well....somewhat milk toast compared to the wammer. My neighbors are like.... What the hell was that? They shoot too but these old war rifles sound respectable when reporting. Very tight groups at 100 yrds. I trimmed the stock, bent the bolt and added scope because I'm having a blast and will be ordering again in the near future! Thanks for reading.

I bought this to store for SHTF for my son's Mosin. It was delivered as promised to my local range - being in New Yorkistan, I can't have it shipped directly to my home. Price Price Price. The powder is a little on the dirty side...that why we clean our arms. If you wanna put lead down range and have a budget this is for you! 80rnds downrange and had 2 fliers and 1 primer not igniting.
The fliers I presume had a lil sumpin to do with the barrel temp. :) Buy em why ya can!!!

By far the cheapest ammo in this caliber. Make sure to clean the firing pin when you're done shooting because the primer is corrosive Aside from that it's good ammo, I've been buying this for years

I haven't opened the can yet, or tried the ammo. And I wasn't lucky enough to get a free can opener as some have. But judging by the condition of the product when I received it, everything seems to be in order. I had big concerns about residue left in my barrel using this old war surplus ammo but found it to be no worse than modern. I have a habit of cleaning after each use though. I bought this amount of ammo because of a real threat that our leaders will restrict sales of ammunition as a way to circumvent the right to own and bear arms.

I ran 2 cases of this ammo through my M-91 and M-44 with absolutely no issues at all! Very accurate for the plinking I do! I even ran some through the Dragunov and it cycled flawlessly, no jams or ftf's in over 1k rounds. Thanks for making it available at a decent price. It is fun to shoot the bigger cals ever since 22 lr has gotten so completely out of hand price wise..... I was accurate off hand to 200 yds and still managed 8" metal disc clangs, prone at 500 yds open sights on 91, and better yet with the scope (4x12 x44) on M-44. As always clean your bbl with soap and water before using solvent to scrub (I personally run the rod handle clenched in the 3 way chuck of my 18v drill)! Good Luck and Vote for our Future!!!

I was on a mission to buy some good cheap ammo to run thru the Archangel/Mosin build, purpose built as a fun to shoot rifle. It's a T-53, so don't beat me up for the altering of the "originality", as the stock was beat to heck , numbers didn't match but the bore looks unbelievable.
Anyway back to the AMMO. This stuff looks like it rolled right of the assembly line, not a single speck of corrosion anywhere. If you could judge a book by its cover, this ammo gets a 10+.
I didn't receive a "can opener" as some reviewers had with buying only one can, but a flat chisel and hammer along one edge ever so gently for about 8-9 inches, I bent it back a bit to get my straight sheet metal shears into it, and a few snips later I was able to bend it back enough to get a few packs out and then slowly removed all the rest. The first strike of the chisel along the edge caused the can to release a nice long "hiss" and the spam can flexed abit outward as the air slid inside. It was truly sealed for the ages.
So don't be afraid to pop on a few of these for the shelf as recent political happening has halted the import of Russian ammo. Prices are surely gonna go up, if it is even available in the future at all.
Note: As with other Russian ammo I have shot in the past, just clean you weapon really well and this stuff will do no serious harm. I am no expert but a clean weapon is a depenable weapon.

I'd recommend opening this up outside, as paint chips can get everywhere when you open the can. The ammo shoot well, works with the aftermarket stripper clips I used in my Soviet 91/30 after a bit of practice and an online tutorial on how to load them properly.

Not only does it leave corrosive salt all over the inside of your rifle, which you should clean as soon as possible, but it also has some sort of weird-smelling substance on the rounds that make your hands smell terrible. I'd recommend washing your hands before eating, and definitely don't place your hands near your eyes or mouth before washing your hands if you've handled this stuff.

Bought a can of 440 and was very impressed with the condition of the ammo upon opening. Went to the range the next day and fired about 75 rounds. No misfires, no fizzles. Every shot went right where it was aimed. At under 25 cents a round, that's impressive. I reload my own brass, so the only thing that would make this stuff better would be if it was in brass cartridges rather than copper-washed steel. I hope you get more so I can buy a couple of cases. By the way, for those who didn't read closely enough, It DID say that you have to buy the case to get an opener. Luckily, I still have one I picked up in Vietnam back in '69. Amazing what you keep around. I've even got a quart mason jar full of "John Waynes" ( the P-38 openers from C-Rats).

I could not have been more pleased. How can you beat the equivalent of a .308 round for this price per round? Well... You can't. Spam can was tightly sealed. Getting into it without the tool took about 10 minutes but it is do-able. I am going to buy some more before this cheap ammo dries up. Thanks Lucky Gunner!! I'll be back for sure!!

Ammo arrived quickly. The ammo can was awesome. I was able to save the can for display...quite a conversation starter. As for the ammo itself..have used 100 rds and all were perfect. Will be buying this again. The best part is the history behind the ammo. Great experience all around.

I must admit,I have not ordered from your company, but after reading these reviews I really am thinking that my next order will be from Lucky Gunner. I have shot milsurplus for many years, and have heard all the crying and complaints about surplus. People seem to forget, military surplus is exactly that, SURPLUS.

You can't beat old russian milsurp

This Russian ammo Arrived in great condition although the spam can vacuum seal was broken due to weathered conditions. I was Hoping that this can could be one that I could stow away, but I had to remove the contents from the can and put the ammo in to an ammo can that i had already to seal them up, of course with no vacuum seal.
The quality of this ammo in of it self is top notch. The difference between the Russian 148Gr. and Bulgarian 147Gr. is ... If my scope is centered for the Bulgarian stuff then I load an other mag with the Russian stuff at 100yds, just one Gr. heavier makes the difference of 2" Right and 1" Low from center.
The recoil of the Russian 148Gr. is quite a bit heavier a lot more muzzle velocity.

All in all, the ammo is great stuff, the spam can was crummy.

I've searched numerous websites to find a good deal on 7.62×54R, and thought I'd try luckygunner.com because of the price. I placed an order for a spam can and it arrived the next business day...so i went out and shot about half of it the day after-no issues, 100% function, and better accuracy than i expected. By far the best value all around on this ammunition and and excellent service from this company-looking forward to the next order.

I purchased the 7.62x54r ammo can for a very good price from LuckyGunner. The ammo shipped fast and was here in only two days! The ammo was sealed well in great shape, and so far it all goes boom with a good level of accuracy for milsurp. All in all I will buy again if the prices remain stable.

Ammo came quickly and with no hassle, gotta love the free over-box option at shipping. Your mileage may vary, but I ordered two cans in one order, and did in fact receive an opener for the cans. Good thing too, those things are a real pain to open even with the correct tool! Only complaint would be the inability to reload the steel casings, but at this price, I certainly can't complain. Will definitely shop luckygunner again.

This ammo was great when I first got it I was so excited and the spam can it came on was really cool looking too. But overall this is a great round and don't let the corrosiveness scare you, as long as you clean it the same day you shoot it your going to be fine.

Dealing with LuckyGunner has resulted in fast deliveries, good prices, well packed items, and their product is always as advertised.
I've used this particular ammo previously with no complaints, it's stand alone performance/quality is 3-4 stars but factoring in the price versus newer ammo prices it rates 5 stars in my book. Be sure and clean your rifle asap after a session on the range, it'll take a bit longer to clean than non-corrosive rounds but like I said, it's THE PRICE!

Q: Does this ammunition have a steel core? The range near me prohibits armor piercing, tracer, and steel core rounds.

A: Hello Jack, This ammunition is considered a mild steel core. Unfortunately it will not pass any type of magnet test or range that prohibits bullets containing steel.

A: Hello, No, these 148gr. FMJ rounds are in 7.62x54R which is a different caliber than .308 Winchester. The two calibers are not interchangeable. You will need .308 rounds if your firearm is chambered in .308.
