Looking for 308 Win ammo? Well, 7.62x51 shares virtually identical dimensions, it’s loaded to an ever so slightly lower pressure, and it works great in AR-10s and other commercial rifles chambered for 308!

These cartridges hail from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, which is the U.S. government’s primary small arms ammo manufacturer. You have probably noticed that they are strung together with M13 links. These are necessary for automatic weapons like the Dillon M134D Minigun and M60 Machine Gun, but they’re also easily removed for use in semi-auto weapons. Just turn on the TV, get a two-by-four, and gently press each round downward bullet-first to free them from their links.

This is M80 spec ammo. Each round has a 149 grain FMJ bullet to smooth out feeding and reduce barrel leading. We classify this ammo as range brass because its bullets aren’t designed to expand within soft tissue. This is the same kind of ammo the Army would use, however, and they certainly don’t limit the places where they shoot to the rifle range.

Lake City anneals their brass cases, but they skip the step where they buff out the discoloration to make the brass look more presentable. All that means is these rounds’ brass cases are in fact brand new, with non-corrosive Boxer primers to facilitate handloading.

This ammo comes packaged in a new production steel ammo can with a rubber gasketed lid. It locks out humidity and protects its contents from damage, so you can count on this ammo to stay ready for action!
