The AK-47 always makes a satisfying “TCHIK-TCHAK” when you rack it. But to make its most satisfying sound, which is “BANG BANG BANG,” that rifle must have ammunition. Why not let Russia, the same country that gave the world the Kalashnikov in the first place, also take care of your rifle’s 7.62x39 needs as well?

This 7.62x39 cartridge hails from Tula, which currently exports over half a billion rounds of ammunition every year. They’re very popular among shooters looking to save a buck or two thanks to their highly economical steel shell casings. You can still count on steel to cycle without difficulty when it’s coated in Tula’s low friction and heat resistant polymer coating. Steel may not be worth reloading, but what a treat it is to pick up your empties with a magnet instead of bending over for them – can’t say that about brass!

This round’s bullet weighs a traditional 124 grains. As a soft point its lead core is partially exposed at the tip, which enables the bullet to deform as it penetrates its target to do significantly greater damage to it. Tula’s bullets do contain steel, so if you have any concerns about bringing magnetic ammo to an indoor range this ammo should certainly raise them.

Tula’s primers are the more economical Berdan variety. They’re still non-corrosive, however, so there’s no need to boil up some water as you prepare to clean your rifle following a shooting sesh.
