Not all 7.62x39 ammunition comes from Russia. Here’s a perfect example by Norma, which was manufactured in Åmotfors, Värmland of Sweden. That’s right! We’re not sure how many AK-47s are owned by Swedes, but we’re glad it’s not so many that they won’t share with us Americans!

This cartridge is loaded with the all-purpose 124 grain full metal jacket bullet. Let’s cast aside any doubts right off the bat: that is a nonmagnetic bullet, with the lead core and copper-alloy jacket that suit it for use at all commercial ranges. The .30 caliber bullet will not expand after hitting its target, so it’s not the right choice if you’re deer hunting with an SKS, although it’d still deal ample damage to a threat or quarry in a pinch.

If you’ve ever wanted to handload your own 7.62x39 – but couldn’t, because you could only get your hands on steel-cased Berdan-primed ammo – then today’s your lucky day. Between its new brass cases and noncorrosive Boxer primers, this ammo represents a great investment in the reloading bench!
