This 7.62x39 cartridge should put a smile on any Kalashnikov fan’s face. It’s made in Hungary by GECO, a subsidiary of Switzerland’s RUAG Ammotec, and unlike a lot of the AK-47 ammo that pours out of Russia it’s entirely non-magnetic. This round’s 124 grain bullet still offers ballistics just like you're accustomed to out of an AK, and as a full metal jacket it feeds easily out of a magazine and prevents rapid barrel leading. It’s not a bullet that expands to become more lethal inside of soft tissue – that said, over a quarter ounce of lead and copper traveling faster than the speed of sound is bad enough for soft tissue on its own.

This reliable target ammunition features precisely tapered and fully reloadable brass shell casings, giving you the opportunity to craft your own Kalashnikov loads back at home. These rounds’ Boxer primers mean their casings have single flash holes for more convenient reloading, and the propellant they come loaded with is extremely clean burning.

Q: Can this round be fired in a 308 rifle without mishap?

A: Hi Joe! No sir, 7.62x39 cannot be fired in a 308 rifle. (This is AK-47/SKS ammo) I believe you're thinking of 7.62x51, which is in fact compatible with 308 Win rifles.

Q: Do you know how well this will run in a non-AK or SKS platform? I have a Ruger mini 30 in 7.62x39mm and was wondering if it will perform? Either way I can just run it out of my SKS.

A: Oh yes, this ammo is in no way specialized for the SKS or AK-47. It should function correctly in any firearm chambered for 7.62x39.

Q: Are these pure copper jacketed or bi-metal? Needs to pass a magnet test at my range to be able to shoot it.

Q: just bought some of this ammo from you guys, but when I looked on the geko website i couldnt find this calibre listed . is this an ammo you can get on a regular basis. I get that your buyers are scrambling right now but looking at the specs it seem like a good round for the price.

A: Thanks for reaching out David! You're right – GECO doesn't appear to have added this ammo to their official website yet, but that likely means they have only just begun manufacturing 7.62x39 ammo. We've only just begun offering it, so I rather suspect this is the case. GECO's target grade ammunition has traditionally offered consistent quality, so while this ammo may not have been on the market for very long I expect it ought to serve your AK or SKS quite well.!
