This 7.62x39 cartridge from Hornady’s BLACK line of ammunition features the Nebraskan manufacturer’s own 123 grain SST projectile. Designed to expand quickly after having delivered tremendous shock upon impact, the SST sports a polymer tip which serves to streamline its profile as well as wedge quickly within the core when it comes into contact with a target. During expansion, the SST’s jacket and core remain mechanically secured together via the bullet’s InterLock ring, promoting weight retention. The SST is an exceedingly accurate projectile as well, owing to its sleek secant ogive profile and its boat tail design. With its bullet’s high ballistic coefficient this round is as satisfying to implement for target practice as it is for hunting larger varmints and medium-sized game.

Hornady’s BLACK line of ammunition is designed to give flawless performance, no matter the firearm you’d chamber it in. While we suspect that you’ll likely load this particular round into an AK-47 (call it a hunch), it’s certain to give you the kind of experience that Mikhail Kalashnikov had hoped for.
