Behold! Turkish-made 7.62x39 ammunition by Sterling! This new production ammo is loaded with steel cases instead of conventional brass ones. You’ll save a nice chunk of cash by avoiding having to purchase a large amount of copper-laden brass, and AKs are famously friendly to steel-cased ammo. This ammo is also noncorrosive, so you won’t have to worry about rust ruining your beautiful Kalashnikov.
If you’re a handloader and want to load your own 7.62 Soviet, then you’ll want to steer clear of steel cases. They aren’t supple enough to return to their original dimensions following ignition, which is also why they tend to permit more fouling into a rifle’s action. Also take care that this ammo’s 123 grain full metal jackets do contain steel. The bullets’ cores are made of solid lead, but their bi-metal jackets will attract a magnet and are accordingly forbidden at more than a couple of commercial ranges.
