The AK-47 is famous for its ability to tear through just about any ammunition. Still, when you’re using one for hunting or self-defense, you’d much rather bank on the good stuff. Good stuff is all that Nosler cranks out, incidentally, and that they’ve outfitted this 7.62x39 cartridge with their Ballistic Tip bullet makes it one of the best indeed.

This round’s 123 grain projectile features a polymer tip – emerald green, the color which Nosler chose to represent its caliber. The Ballistic Tip’s tip resists deformation while the bullet is still in the magazine, streamlines the bullet so that it can deliver a flatter trajectory, and on impact smashes inward to commence expansion.

The rest of the Ballistic Tip is optimized to enhance devastating terminal expansion as well. Its jacket’s boat tail base reduces in-flight drag so the bullet can strike its target with greater energy. The base is also thicker than usual, creating a solid platform upon which wider expansion can reliably take place. The jacket also narrows toward the tip of the bullet, weakening it to control faster, more uniform expansion even at lower velocities.

Nosler seats their prized projectile in their own new production brass case, and arms it with a sensitive primer and uniform load of clean burning propellant.
