This cartridge features Hornady’s crown jewel: the ELD-X. It’s an insanely accurate hunting bullet with a 0.512 G1 ballistic coefficient courtesy of its deformation-proof Heat Shield tip, hyper-concentric AMP jacket, and ballistically efficient secant ogive profile and boat tail. Hornady recommends a minimum barrel twist of 1:8 in order to get the best accuracy out of their 103 grain ELD-X
The “X” stands for “eXpanding,” which the ELD-X delivers at virtually any velocity. At high velocity impact (within 400 yards) the ELD-X’s InterLock ring and thick jacket shank ensure at least 50 percent weight retention for sufficiently deep penetration to kill medium game. At lower velocities the Heat Shield tip rams inward to trigger massive expansion accompanied by a minimum of 85 percent weight retention.
A Precision Hunter cartridge has Hornady’s match grade brass and primer, with clean-burning propellant to keep your rifle shinier, longer. This ammo’s components are manufactured, assembled and carefully inspected in the great state of Nebraska.
