This box contains 20 6.8mm Remington Special Purpose Cartridge rounds, each carrying a 115 grain hollow point (HP) bullet. Hollow point bullets expand rapidly on impacting a target, causing devastating tissue damage and dramatically increasing the knockdown power of a given round. This trait makes them an excellent choice for both hunting and self-defense.
The 6.8 SPC cartridge was developed by the US Army Marksmanship Unit, US Special Operations Command and Remington Arms to resolve some issues with the military’s standard 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge. The 5.56 NATO round suffered in the transition from the M16 to the M4, as the smaller carbine configuration lacked the muzzle length to take full advantage of the cartridge. 6.8 SPC performs well out of smaller platforms and shorter barrels. It is based on a shortened version of the .30 Remington case.
