This 6.5 Creedmoor round’s 140 grain bullet starts with a polymer tip (brown, to indicate the 6.5mm caliber). It prevents deformation in the magazine during recoil, makes the bullet more aerodynamic, and serves as the catalyst for rapid terminal expansion following impact.
The Ballistic Tip’s tapered jacket keeps expansion under control as its tough alloyed lead core retains the weight that is needed for deep penetration. The Ballistic Tip’s boat tail reduces drag, and is made of a thickened section of jacket to provide additional protection against deformation. So solid a base also propels wider expansion.
This round has a G1 BC of 0.518. That’s enough to keep its bullet flying at around 1,850 fps at 500 yards, at which distance it still carries more than 1,000 ft lbs of energy for ethical whitetail hunting!
