Peace with varmints was never an option. We’re at war with perfidious rodents, and you’re fighting the good fight with your 6.5mm Creedmoor rifle. We thank you for your service, and hope to send you ammo that is far more than just serviceable. It’s Hornady V-Match!

This round’s bullet is light: 100 grains, and therefore not optimal for accessing the farthest reaches of the 6.5 CM’s conventional effective range. You will get an extremely flat and predictable trajectory at close/medium range, however. The ELD-VT features a Heat Shield polymer tip that doesn’t deform in response to aerodynamic heating, as well as a boat tail and Hornady’s own supremely concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket. If the bullet attains its advertised 3,200 fps muzzle velocity (recorded by Hornady with a 24” test barrel), then its 0.448 G1/0.266 G7 BC should take it to 200 yards with ~1,700 ft lbs striking energy.

Although powerful, this round’s ELD-VT is not ideal for taking medium game. Its polymer tip must cross a large air gap before colliding with the flat surface of its lead core. That leads to rapid expansion, even at low velocity. The resulting wound channel might be too shallow to take down a whitetail, but such dramatic fragmentation is apt to turn any smaller critter inside out.
