This round’s 350 grain bullet has a total copper jacket. “What the heck is that?” you might be asking. Good question. A TCJ consists of a swaged lead core which is completely enveloped in a relatively flexible electroplated copper jacket. Because the TCJ covers the base of a bullet – something which a standard full metal jacket does not do – it makes it impossible for ignition to aerosolize the lead in its core. This prevents lead fouling within the barrel and makes an indoor range’s air healthier to breathe.

A TCJ also benefits performance by causing less damage to a range’s backdrop than an FMJ, and its pliant jacket furthermore poses a drastically reduced risk of ricocheting. For a round as powerful as the 50 AE, that’s a good thing indeed.

This round’s brass really hasn’t been fired before, so it’s as good an investment for the enthusiastic handloader as it gets. PCI loads preeminent manufacturers’ primers and propellants to give shooters consistent ignition and ballistic performance every time they pull back on the trigger.
