This cartridge is loaded with a 300 grain full metal jacket. It is absolutely not designed to expand, although its flat nose profile does enable it to remain forward facing as it penetrates a dense body of mass. In other words, if you fire one of these slugs into an angry bear or boar, it’s going to cut a straight path through the critter.
Underwood doesn’t just load this ammo with FMJs. Their nickel-plated brass cases are tops: reloadable, corrosion resistant, able to freely cycle through a semi-auto while generating minimal friction, and easier to spot in the chamber thanks to their greater reflectivity. Their propellant charges are designed to minimize muzzle flash – a great advantage at night when a bright burst of light would blind you.
