A: Thanks for reaching out James! Black Hills' most famous 77 grain 5.56 load is the MK 262 MOD 1. It is loaded with the Sierra MatchKing OTM. It a custom design for U.S. Armed Forces sniper teams, albeit not one I'd recommend for personal defense (the MatchKing OTM does not deliver terminal expansion, which is important because it (A) maximizes injury to the threat, and (B) reduces the risk of over-penetration). We offer the commercial variant (MK 262 MOD 1-C) of this ammo for sale: https://www.luckygunner.com/5-56x45-77-grain-otm-mk-262-mod1-c-black-hills-460-rounds-in-ammo-can. The Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet is similarly unsuited for home defense. That's not to say that either bullet couldn't neutralize a threat, but I strongly advise choosing an expanding bullet all the same.

A: I just asked our contact at Black Hills on your behalf, but I fear their answer won't satisfy you: As is so often the case in this business, Black Hills keeps their propellant composition a secret!
