If you have a short-barreled rifle, then you may have already noticed that it underperforms when it fires standard 5.56x45 ammunition. Its muzzle flash is too bright. Its rate of fouling is off the charts. Its performance with a suppressor is suboptimal. Hornady loads this 5.56 ammo specifically to address those problems.

This cartridge’s propellant is specially formulated to dramatically reduce or even eliminate muzzle flash out of a barrel as short as 10.5”. The propellant burns up quickly, which dramatically reduces the residue buildup that harms accuracy. And if your SBR is outfitted with a suppressor, this ammo will provide a 15 to 20% reduction in the accessory’s temperature and reduce sound signature by 6 to 7 decibels.

This round’s heavy 75 grain bullet achieves 2,321 fps muzzle velocity out of a 20” test barrel. The InterLock’s one-piece lead core and copper jacket exhibit superior weight retention courtesy of the toothed cannelure and InterLock ring which mechanically lock the two components together. Even if the InterLock must pierce a barrier before reaching the threat, it will penetrate to a depth that satisfies the FBI test protocol. The InterLock’s jacket becomes thinner toward its tip, and possesses long grooves which also strategically weaken it to promote reliable terminal expansion.
