This round’s lead core bullet is clad in a full metal jacket weighing 62 grains. That brakes its muzzle velocity down by about 100 fps, although its greater heft gives the bullet greater resistance to the straying influence of crosswinds. The full metal jacket bullet ends in a tapering, drag reducing boat tail, a feature which sets its G1 ballistic coefficient at 0.288. In effect you’ve got a bullet that needs to rise by only 1.56” on its path to a 200 yard target, and which won’t break subsonic until 812 yards – far beyond the 5.56’s effective range.

Aguila gave this round their signature Non-Corr primer, a sensitive and non-corrosive Boxer that you can entrust the success of a range session to. Its new brass case is nicely polished, boasts consistent dimensions, and ought to give you several chances to put your handloading skills to good use.

A: No sir, I'm afraid it's not. At 62 grains this round's ballistic performance will mimic the M855 penetrator, but it hasn't got the steel core. We do have F1 ammo in stock: luckygunner.com/5-56x45-62-grain-fmj-f1-australian-defense-industries-900-rounds-in-ammo-can. This is the Australian military's equivalent of the M855, and I believe it only differs because it hasn't got green paint.
