Your face is pressed right up against your computer screen. You’re gripping your mouse so tightly that the plastic is starting to crack. You are intent on finding American-made 5.56x45 M855 ammunition.

Fortunately we have this 5.56x45 SS109 ammunition by Ammo Inc. in stock for you. The SS109 bullet is identical to the M855 bullet but with one tiny difference: its tip is not painted green.

This cartridge’s 62 grain FMJ is special because the front half of its core is made of steel. That makes the bullet magnetic, which limits the number of commercial ranges you can fire it at. But it’s steel tip also makes the SS109 bullet a whole lot tougher, and thus able to easily penetrate sheet metal and other hard surfaces.

Like the M855, the SS109 bullet weighs seven grains heavier than normal. That gives it more momentum for enhanced resistance to wind drift, as well as more downrange energy with which to hit its target. The SS109 bullet may also track dual wound channels following impact if its two-piece core snaps in half.

Ammo Inc. is headquartered in Arizona, with a second factory in Wisconsin. They draw and taper their own brass cases, and they are fine enough quality to be reloaded.
