A: Hi JGH! That's correct, a hollow point match bullet may superficially resemble a jacketed hollow point, but it is not in fact designed to mushroom outward within soft tissue. A hollow point match is instead designed to deliver the long distance accuracy you want for target shooting.
I'm afraid we haven't got optimal home defense ammo for your rifle in stock at the moment, at least not ammo that's marketed for law enforcement/personal protection. That said, I would recommend this ammo: luckygunner.com/223-rem-55-grain-blitzking-sierra-prairie-enemy-20-rounds. As a varmint/predator round, its bullet is designed for explosive fragmentation shortly after initial impact. Now, seeing as you're going to be engaging a threat at close range, a shot with a round like this is still going to deliver over three times the recommended minimum energy for self-defense. And its terminal effect is catastrophic, even when it's not taking place inside of a coyote. What's more, this ammo is going to minimize the chance of overpenetration which you're so correctly concerned about.
If you want something that's STRICTLY designed to neutralize a human-sized threat, I'd highly recommend Speer Gold Dot (SKU 24469) or Hornady Critical Defense (SKU 80270). I regret that we haven't got those in stock at the moment, but I'd rather you get exactly what you want somewhere else than have you compromise here. Your safety kind of comes before my sales as far as I'm concerened.

A: Hello Reynaldo! An M193 has to have a 55 grain full metal jacket boat tail projectile, as well as a muzzle velocity of 3,250 fps. This round's muzzle velocity is essentially the same, but its hollow point match bullet means it can't be designated an M193. This round's ballistic and terminal performance may be virtually identical to an M193, though.

A: Hi Stephen! This is brand new factory loaded ammunition. It was loaded at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, the largest small arms ammo manufacturer in the U.S. You may be noticing the different color of the brass around the case neck? That indicates that the case has been annealed, or heat-treated, which makes it more supple to assure more efficient chambering during ignition. It also helps the case stay supple for repeated reloadability. Please let me know if that doesn't address your concern!

A: This ammo is indeed made for Hornady by LCAAP. We received this ammo in barrels of 13,889 rounds and packaged it in smaller boxes ourselves, so you should expect precisely 500 rounds per box.
