M193 isn’t an exclusively American thing, of course. Any company can manufacturer it anywhere on earth – just like Prvi Partizan does, in Serbia. This is their Rangemaster label ammo, which is all you need to make your AR-15 ready for the rifle range.
The 55 grain full metal jacket boat tail hits a muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps (if it’s fired out of a 24” barrel, that is). As a full metal jacket, it’s the simplest type of bullet that’ll work properly in a semi-automatic, and also lacks the ability to expand after impact (though it will certainly shatter if it strikes soft tissue at close/medium range). Prvi Partizan’s bullet does not contain steel; it will not attract a magnet. The FMJBT’s boat tail is only there to help it keep more of its velocity, which equals a flatter trajectory and harder striking energy. All in all, the ideal bullet for target shooting, especially if you’re doing lots of it.
