A: Thanks for reaching out Matt! This ammunition is in fact brand new. Not a single one of its components has ever seen the light of day. This ammo is made for Federal by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant – the U.S. government's primary small arms ammo supplier. Lake City heat-treats their brass cases for added durability. This cosmetically discolors the brass, but Lake City does not polish the case afterward. This is for two reasons: unpolished cases are less reflective, and therefore less likely to alert the enemy to our soldiers' locations; and the enhanced cosmetics of a shiny case do not pose any tactical advantage.

A: Simple as pie! "Federal Premium" is the full name of an ammunition manufacturer based in Minnesota. (Most retailers shorten their name to just "Federal.") Many ammo manufacturers have multiple brand names for their various lines of ammunition, i.e. Barnes VOR-TX, Remington UMC, and Speer Gold Dot. "American Eagle" is a label Federal puts on their very basic ammunition. It's not low quality by any means, but not particularly fancy – just the kind of ammo firearm enthusiasts buy most frequently, really.

A: No sir! The only metals in this round's bullet are copper and lead, and its casing is brass.
