Underwood loads this behemoth .45 cal round with the eXtreme Terminal Performance (XTP) by Hornady. Its carefully swaged lead core and perfectly concentric jacket make the XTP so balanced that competitive shooters often favor it solely for its accuracy. The XTP’s drawn copper jacket shields its rim, which helps the bullet plunge through thick hide without damaging its nose cavity in the process. The XTP’s jacket is serrated, and also extra narrow where it shields the rim: both reasons why the bullet’s TP is so X.
Underwood’s nickel-plated brass cases aren’t just reloadable. They’re not just shiny, either. They’re also corrosion-resistant, so you can traverse damp wilderness with greater assurance that you’re not harming your ammo. This ammo’s also excellent for nighttime shooting, as its flash-reduced powder ignites too dimly to interfere with the shooter’s vision.
