Don’t get too attached to this round’s pretty red plastic shot capsule. Its purpose is served (and its existence is concluded) when ignition pulverizes it into itty-bitty red plastic fragments. That releases this round’s 140 grain (0.32 oz.) payload of #4 lead shot: 42 individual 0.13” diameter spheres of varmint annihilation!
This round’s projectile mass is extremely light for the 45 Colt, and its 800 fps muzzle velocity is unusually low to boot. That means super light recoil. It also means a pretty limited effective range. A bad choice for pheasant hunting. An amazing choice for putting dirty rats in their place!
Henry warns against firing shot in their rifles. This ammo probably won’t cycle through a lever gun, anyway. But if you’ve got a Judge or Governor (and a vendetta against vermin), then you’ll find that this ammo isn’t just effective. It is also fun!
WARNINGS
1. Do not use this ammo in firearms with ported barrels or recoil compensators. That could cause a shot pellet to ricochet back at your beautiful face, prematurely ending your modeling career.
2. CCI’s noncorrosive Berdan-primed aluminum cases are not reloadable.
3. Next to blanks, this is the worst 45 Colt ammo you could use for personal protection.
4. Cylinder lockup may occur in lightweight revolvers. This can be avoided by chambering one round at a time.
