This is extra powerful, American-made 45 ACP +P ammunition for self-defense. Whereas your classic 45 ACP load pushes a 230 grain bullet to a muzzle velocity of 835 fps, this little firecracker pushes 255 grains of projectiles to a muzzle velocity of 935 fps. The result? Its muzzle energy is 11 percent more potent, giving it commanding terminal ballistics for a scenario where your life may depend on how quickly you can incapacitate a threat.

Doubletap’s Equalizer line of ammunition uniquely features two projectiles. The first is a traditional jacketed hollow point bullet, which is engineered to expand quickly and fully inside of soft tissue even at lower velocities. The second is a hardcast disk – essentially a miniature wadcutter with a gas check, which inflicts an additional and devastating wound channel inside the target. A fearsome one-two combo indeed!

Doubletap ammunition is loaded in Cedar City, UT. What began in 2002 as a one-man operation in a garage quickly developed into a reputable company. Their brass-cased, non-corrosive ammo is reliable when every second counts.

Please note that 45 ACP +P ammunition is too powerful for older firearms, which may not be designed to absorb its boosted chamber pressure. You’ll want a more modern handgun for this ammo like a Glock 21 or SIG P220. Please ask us if you’re not sure!

Q: Glock 30 , is a 45 acp can it safely handle the 45 acp equalizer double tap Ammo. ??

A: Thanks for reaching out John! Glock's 45 ACP pistol is rated for 45 ACP +P ammo as well. Just take care that overpressure ammo will wear out your G30's moving parts faster. That's not a problem as far as self-defense is concerned, but you wouldn't want to do a lot of training with ammo like this.

Q: Will this work in a new 1911 build specifically with an aluminum receiver and a stealth arms build kit? That may fall into your "older" category, thank you.

A: Thanks for reaching out Tristan! An aluminum frame isn't as durable as a steel one. It's more susceptable to damage, which is why it's generally advised not to fire overpressure ammo in an aluminum framed 1911. In all honesty your 1911 will probably be fine firing this ammo whenever you need it for self-defense (which is hopefully never, obviously), but I'd recommend not training extensively with it or anything.

If you'd like some really good 45 ACP ammo for self-defense, then I'd highly recommend police-grade Federal Premium HST. This ammo is loaded to standard specs and doesn't threat harm to your pistol:
