A: Thanks for reaching out Mark! I always advise my customers that JHP ammo is preferable for self-defense, even when we haven't got it in stock. That said, this ammo is completely capable of efficiently neutralizing a threat. This is more or less the same exact type of ammo the U.S. Army would have issued for use with the M1911 – the Army complies with an international moratorium on expanding bullets for warfare, so 230 grain FMJ bullets are standard (TMJ bullets perform identically to FMJ).
I personally own a derringer which is only designed to safely fire 45 ACP ammo like this. I keep it loaded in my nightstand. This is quite literally a type of ammo I have chosen to trust my life to.
