Are you looking for full-power self-defense ammo for your 44 Special revolver – or low-recoil self-defense ammo for your 44 Mag? Doubletap loads this potent personal protection cartridge with the Controlled Expansion jacketed hollow point, so you will have what it takes to halt the threat’s attack in an instant!

The Controlled Expansion JHP requires only a few inches of penetration until its nose cavity becomes sufficiently pressurized to trigger wide terminal expansion. The projectile’s tough jacket and dense lead core grant it the durability requisite to establish a deep wound channel as well.

The 180 grain JHP’s 1,100 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 5” test barrel. If you have a Bulldog or other 3” barrel revolver, you can reasonably expect a muzzle velocity closer to 900 fps (and muzzle energy in the ballpark of 328 ft lbs, which still exceeds the minimum threshold advised for personal protection.

Doubletap makes high-quality ammunition whether they’re putting Colt’s logo on it or their own. These rounds’ propellant charges are held to a weight standard of ±0.10 grains to ensure consistent shot-to-shot performance. Their brass cases are straight, concentric and reloadable, and they are carefully inspected at the factory to ensure absolute uniformity.
